Bravo!

Congratulations on a stupendous concert last night! I don't recall having that strong of a response for our previous concerts. Oddly, this was the smallest audience I can recall--but they made up for it in enthusiasm.

The map for next Tuesday is linked to the right ====>>>

Please be prompt and in the concert space at 6pm. That said, plan accordingly for extra time, and arrive early enough at the library to find out where you need to go. And, finally, be sure you know with whom you are travelling.

See you Tuesday!

Concerts!

I was so tired at the end of last night's rehearsal, that I forgot a number of things!:
  • You sound really great. I can't wait till spring's preparation of the Fauré Requiem. To get a head-start on how this wonderful music sounds, click here.
  • As a reminder, Tuesday's concert starts at 8pm. Please be prompt and ready to sing at 7pm, when we will start/stop all items on the program, beginning with All Good Gifts.
  • If your music isn't already in order, make sure it is before Tuesday. Click here for the program order.
  • Dress for Tuesday is ALL BLACK.
  • Since the concert starts at 8pm following the 7pm rehearsal, please ask your guests to arrive as close to 8pm as possible. Ideally, I won't allow people into the hall till we're done with our rehearsal.
  • Finally, special thanks to Crosby and Mark for joining us last night!
  • Oops: one more item. Rebecca Smith (and everyone else), make sure you have a ride to the library concert. Please fill out the form, linked to the right.

Dress Rehearsal Agenda

Great rehearsal last night! This Tuesday is our dress rehearsal, and we will be joined by our guest singers. Please be prepared for an intense run of the entire program with steady work as we get our guest singers on board.

Don't forget to add your name to the carpool/driving form, linked to the right of this post.

And for you sick people, enjoy!:

Library Concert Information

I've added two links to the right:

  • map to the library
  • driving/carpool information
It's important that I keep track of everyone and know how people are getting to/from the concert. Please fill out the carpool/driving info form at the link. (If you add to it, it will change for everyone.)

If you need a ride, make sure to add your name to the car of someone who is willing to carpool. For instance, you'll see that I can take four people. Presuming you would dare want to be in a car with me, add your name to my row but also update your own information on the form.

If you are having trouble with the document, just email me, and I'll fill in the form for you.

Please note that there is plenty of parking in the garage next tot he library on Lexington St. or on Lincoln and Pearl St.

Monday concert and agenda for 11/15

Monday (11/14) details:

  • 1pm call (prompt!) in Heineman
  • Dress is all black
  • Program order: Battle Hymn--Wondrous Love--Steal Way
  • Concert runs from 1:30-2:20.
You were tired by the end of last night's rehearsal, but don't let that get in the way of remembering what to do. Watch those W's on Wondrous Love!

========================
Ahemmm...Since many of you seem incapable of looking at the course calendar (linked to the right of this post) and even having your own calendar in which you've written in dates (grrrrrrrrr....), let me reiterate the winter concert details:
  • Tues, 11/29, 7pm rehearsal, 8pm concert (Heineman)
  • Tues, 12/6, 6pm call at the Framingham Public Library; 7pm concert
  • Dress is all black.
  • Program order is in program link (below).
I am confirming more details with the library, including parking and the exact location. I will update this blog when I hear back from them.

NO LATER THAN MONDAY: look at the concert program and let me know if there is an error with your name. Click here to see the program.

=======================
And, speaking of the calendar, let me point out how absolutely important it is that you are at ALL remaining rehearsals, including 11/15 and 11/22. (My, my, that's all that's left!) I am fully aware that Thanksgiving is 11/24, but classes are still in session on 11/23...so you should be at rehearsal on 11/22.

======================

YES! We have rehearsal on Tuesday, 11/15, even in spite of the concert on 11/14.

Agenda for 11/7

Great rehearsal last night! Seeing that we've lost some chorus members due to schedules, etc., I have to say how happy and honored I am to have your continued commitment.

Please look at the calendar link to the right to confirm all rehearsals/concert dates with your own personal schedule. This is IMPORTANT, so do it!

I don't have the program order for 11/14 yet, but I expect to have it in time for next week's rehearsal. I do, however, have the tentative program order for the holiday concerts. Click here to view it! (Please put your music in order, although keep the three Civil War selections in front.) Check the program as well for correct spelling of your name or if I've left you out.

Finally, I must stand corrected. Last night, Pat asked if a hemiola was a syncopation, and I said it wasn't. In some cases, syncopation is defined as a strong harmony on a weak beat. That is exactly what's happening in a hemiola. Therefore, it's a type of syncopation. Thanks, Pat!
